Latest Version of Internet Explorer 9 is Live

We have enclosed plenty of news relating to Microsoft’s latest web browser but now the wait is finally over as Internet Explorer 9 has gone live.
Believe it or not Microsoft is previously boasting that its new browser is ahead of competitors Google and Firefox. This seems like quite a bold statement to make as it comes off the back of news that it is losing 10% of the market share to Google Chrome. However, as the IE9 Beta has been downloaded more than 25 million times this at least bares some proof to the above statement.
Out of all the features that IE9 is said to offer the two that stand out the most are the privacy and speed enhancement. With regaards to privacy, the software deploys tracking protection that can limit communication with other websites, thus allowing you to connect to sites that have been directly requested. For example, you would only see content from the source and not 3rd party plug-ins such as advertisements.
As for the speed enhancements, these come up to from its new expanded support for HTML5 which can render web pages a lot quicker than its closest rivals. It achieve this due to the added hardware acceleration support which can take full advantage of your graphics card’s GPU.
Sad News is that Windows XP users will not be able to download the browser update as it is only available on Vista and Windows 7 computers.

Australian Airline Plans to Rent Apple IPads on Flights

The iPad offer a lot in a relatively compact package. The device can be used to watch movies, read books and magazines, listen to music and play games.
That’s most likely for those who travel often might carry their beloved iPad with them on the plane.
That’s also why it makes perfect logic that one airline sees the iPad as an chance to make some additional revenue.
Jetstar, a low-cost Australian airline, and also a subsidiary of Qantas, performed a trial back June in which 30 iPads were experienced over a two week period on domestic flights over an hour in length.
Based on the success of that trial, the airline is ready to move forward with a full deployment of the program which will permit passengers to rent an iPad for AUD$10 a flight beginning in April.
The program’s scheduled launch will be dependent upon the airline finalizing license agreements with Apple.
The airline hopes to use the iPads on its A320s in Australia and Asia Pacific in addition to is whole domestic and international network.
Airlines have previously shown signs they are keen to embrace the iPad. Back in June of last year Malaysia Airlines began offering self-checkout kiosks powered by iPads and the airline’s own MHmobile app.
Other airlines have also started offering iPad apps include Oneworld which is an alliance of airlines including American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Mexicana and a number of other carriers.

HTC Incredible S

The HTC Incredible S does look rather dapper, we have to give it to the Taiwanese firm. Complete with a rear side that looks like it’s shrink wrapped around the phone’s innards, the weight and feel of the phone is certainly up there with the best thanks to the aluminium unibody effect AGAIN.The bottom of the phone has the now standard touch sensitive Home, Menu, Back and Search buttons, which are easy enough to hit below the 4-inch Super LCD screen.
HTC is making a big deal about the Super LCD technology since it decided to drop AMOLED options (apparently because there was a shortage of the tech) and while it looks pin sharp and clear, it’s not a patch on the Super AMOLED+ option on the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Skype Video Removes from HTC Thunderbolt by Verizon

It would come into view as while the closer we get to the release of the HTC Thunderbolt the further we get from the device we were initially promised.
The Thunderbolt, Verizon’s first 4G LTE device, was initially announced at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show.
Since then we’ve exposed that while it is a 4G LTE device for data it will still use CDMA for voice. Now, it seems that as we get closer to launch more features are being removed.

Subject: *INFO* ThunderBolt by HTC – Training Documents
To:
The ThunderBolt by HTC trainings have been updated and replaced in InfoCenter.
The Skype Mobile with Video references have been removed.
There could be many explanations for this. Skype may not be ended incorporating QIK into their existing set up, which may be a vital component for video chat in app form.
It may also be Verizon plans to suggest Skype for Video on their first true 4G LTE device, such as the LG Optimus 2X.
Neither Verizon nor Skype were available to speak on the matter, but as per the email above, Skype Video has been removed from the Thunderbolt.
So, no Skype video, no channelized voice, and that excessive out of contract price at Best Buy leads me to wonder how many of us will be the skipping over the Thunderbolt in hopes that the next Verizon 4G LTE device will deliver.

12 File Formats can be Open Using Google Docs Viewer

Google Docs is rapid becoming a major candidate to established office suites similar to Microsoft Office and the free-to-use OpenOffice.org or LibreOffice. For some, it has previously replaced such desktop software.
Google isn’t a group to sit back and relax, though, and late last week Google Docs Viewer got 12 new file formats it could open.
What that means is, 12 more files you can view with a single click in Google Docs putting it ahead of the competition in some respects.
The 12 new formats available include:
Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)
Apple Pages (.PAGES)
Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
TrueType (.TTF)
XML Paper Specification (.XPS)
Google is viewing this update as a major target as Viewer now has support for all the major Microsoft Office formats.
Accessing the new formats is done in accurately the same way as previously supported file formats.
If you get sent a file in Gmail, for example, just click the view link and it will load in your browser. Not only is that faster than say, opening Adobe Photoshop on your desktop, but Google also say it is safer due to the fact you don’t need to download the file to your machine’s hard drive.
